Hi, I am 44 have had my PM for 5 months, after having very sudden complete heart block in December. It has been a slow and long recovery, but have been feeling a lot stronger of the past few months, started physio to recover some arm movement and have been walking about 30 minutes daily since February and recently started swimming again.
During moderate exercise I feel great and am never short of breath or feel bad in anyway, but sometimes like today, afterwards I feel over extended and completely wiped out, very tired, weak, irritable and have a strange sensation in left chest.
Any advice or similar experience would be appreciated.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.

Hi Electric Mark from ElectricFrank!
Do you have any information on your pacemaker settings? They can have a very noticeable effect on how you feel. If the pacemaker isn't keeping up with your body's demand for blood flow you can slowly develop a deficit during exercise. Usually that causes shortness of breath, but some of us don't experience it that way.
I'm 82 and hike in the desert near home. I can climb a hill steep and long enough to get my HR up to 135 or so and start to feel like that is enough, but never experience shortness of breath from it. I can just stop for a minute or so and am ready to go again. If I really push it I can feel a bit wiped out a day or 2 later. Of course at my age what should I expect.
