Lead ExtractionMRI with ICD

Had my SprintFidelis pulled on Tuesday on the opening day of the new Johns Hopkins Hospital. Been waiting for this for a long time, but he wouldn't do it until the ICD hit EOL. The procedure took place in the new EPCath room which is a hybrid room (doubles as the OR, just in case.) BTW, pre-EOL I had an MRI done with this ICD (JHU does about 4-6 of them safely each day, I was informed.) After removal of the battery and leads, had a 3D mapping MRI done right after to confirm a diagnosis. Pretty productive week. tpw

Interesting. They must have one of the new low energy MRI's. That's encouraging for any of us who still have "non MRI" versions.

Hi! With excellent care and your positive attitude, your recovery should go well. On my second ICD. Follow your doctor's orders (I know easier said than done), be patient with yourself, and we should hear more good news from you soon. Hopeful Heart

MRIs at Northwestern in Chicago too

my docs are at Northwestern Memorial in Chicago and I was told they do MRIs when needed with pacemakers also.

They just interrogate the device before and after to be sure everything is AOK.
