Heart bearing above minimum rate

Over the past few months my heart has been beating at up to 84bpm when at test, even though my pm is set at a minimum of 60 bpm. My GP read my pulse at 84, thought this was strange and sent me off for an ecg, which showed 68. And I was sent to see the Cardio. The pm was tested and declared OK. I tried to get an explanation about the high readings, and was told that these may be due extraneous factors, such as a possible virus. Generally however the pm was working very much within the normal range. Prior to these high readings, my pulse was pretty much always at around 60 at rest.
Anybody had similar experiences or, clues as to what might be going on?

Heart rate

Yes for the last ten days it has been beating from 65 to 85, my PM is set at 60 at rest, and has always been at 60, and now I can't it down to 60. I got the PM for low heart rate. Could it be that our hearts have come good?

beating

Are you pacing at 84 or beating on your own? Because the pacer can't stop it when your heart beats on its own, it'll just watch. It sounds like you're pacing less, which is a good thing. The pacer is there for a back up if you drop below 60, but sounds like you aren't needing it as much. 80's is a little high for a resting rate, but not terrible.

How's your caffeine intake? My rate shoots right up and won't come down if I have more than one cup.

Caffeine intake

Pacing does not seem to be related to caffeine intake. On one occasion, just before sedation for a colonoscopy after fasting overnight, I was beating at 84. Maybe my heart is working more efficiently but the reason for the pm was a sick sinus syndrome and that, I believe, cannot be reversed.

SSS

No, sss can't be reversed, but it's possible the sinus node occasionally kicks in and works properly.SSS doesn't have to be 24/7. Ask them if you are pacing when your resting rate is in the 80's. If it's not pacing, it's all you.
