Once you get past 6-8 weeks it's ok to lift whatever you want. Have fun!

Hi,

I'm not sure what type of PM you have, or what, if any additional surgeries or procedures you had done at the time of your PM, but I had a Bi-V, CRT-P (PM) with AV-Node ablation done in mid-April 2012 and I went bowling a couple of months ago with no problem at all.

I'm a smaller gal and use a 12 lb ball and didn't notice any issues whatsoever. My PM is on my left side and since I'm right handed, I throw the ball with my right hand/arm. It may matter if your PM is on the same side as the arm you use to throw the ball, and you're not quite healed yet.

Ask your doctor(s) just to make sure, but it was fine for me.

Have fun!

Realistically it takes about 3-4 weeks for the calcium to build up around the leads and really cement them in place, but we always tell patients 8 weeks to add an extra safety margin. Go bowl a turkey! (assuming no problems or additional surgeries have taken place)

If your pacemaker is on your left side and you're a lefty, I would talk to your cardiologist. If you are a righty, go for it. I waited 4 weeks after I got my pacemaker/defib implanted because I didn't have any energy since I had gone into cardiac arrest and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. When I started bowling I was pretty tired but managed to bowl my 3 games and I throw a 14lb ball!
