Hi all, can anyone help me? I am 7 wks post op from my PM (right side) and punctured lung. (bradycardia, no medication, aged 56 yrs).
I have been walking 30 mins up to 2 hrs a day to get fit again over the last 3 wks. Most days I don’t have a problem, however, today I seem to have had a lot of palpitations and feeling breathless when moving around. I also had to turn back after 10 mins of walking as I was constantly feeling palpitations and getting very breathless each time; this made me feel a little weak. (Not had so many palpitations since before my PM was fitted).
I also have a nipping feeling inside my right chest area. I have not done anything different as I normally do in a day... is this normal??? has any one experienced this 7 wks down the line???
Just when I thought things were looking up...will life with a PM ever get better than this???
Regards ...

I personally think you are pushing yourself way too hard way too fast way too soon.
If my calculations are correct you started exercising again at just 4 weeks post op.
I'm not a doctor but it seems to me that you really need to slow down and let your body heal.
Speak with your doctor about this:)

And I just started exercising at 6 weeks, and it's slow going. I certainly can't do what I did before. I find the weather.... Actually the hot weather can make me very tired. It's going to be a progression in terms of exercising.
I also think you did too much too soon.
As far as palpitations .....I dont know if you have afib or not but stress and anxiety can certainly cause palpitations. Next time you go to yr EP or doc mention it. It could be, and I am certainly not ready to hang out my shingle but it could be that you felt SOB and panicked and got palpitations.
See your doctor

I write down all my questions in a notebook and take it with me when I go to the cardiologist.
I have found it is better to take my meds after I exercise. I used to think it was important to take them before. Last November I took them before the Half Marathon and I really struggled throughout the end of the race.
I consulted my doctors and they told me to take the meds after I exercise. I haven't had those problems. I don't know what to say about your lung. I think you need to check it out with your doctor. You may be rushing it a bit, but it is really important to ask your doctor and keep him aware of your activity.
Hope you get the answers you need.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.

Hi Dancer,
You seem to have been doing a bit too much too soon. 7 weeks is not long especially having had a punctured lung. However after saying this, it seems to me that you need to go back to your doctor as soon as possible. Please do not leave this any longer. No it is not normal.
Let us know how you go. All the best.
