playing tennis

Hi,

I had my PM installed 4 days ago. I am feeling super and no pain at the incision at all.  My doctor told me that I can restart playing tennis in 4-6 weeks.  My only concern is a fear that a tennis ball may hit me directly on the PM spot...any danger?  Is there any protection that I could wear?

Thanks for your comments and thanks for this site where, I already have found many answers.

Don't think about it !

Hello mounirm Glad that you're recovering well and you will soon be enjoying your tennis . I started playing gentle tennis after 2 - 3 weeks ( underarm serving at first ) and then was playing normally after about 5 weeks.

I guess if a tennis ball hits your PM site it would hurt but you've got to ask yourself what are the chances of that happening ? If you were taking part in paintball , or if you were receiving Andie Roddick's serves you would definitely need padding ; but normal tennis I wouldn't even think about it. When were you last hit by a tennis ball ? Some things in life, like being struck by lightning can happen, but rarely do !

Enjoy your tennis .. I'm off to play myself in 10 minutes time ( wouldn't it be ironic if I got hit by a tennis ball !

Best wishes

Ian

Hi Ian,

thanks for your comment. Hope you have a nice game.
I guess you are right. Andie Roddick's? I would not even see his serve:):):)

Take care.

tennis after PM implant

My cardiologist, also a 4.0 player, assured me the same that I'd be back on the court in about 6 weeks. I just had a Medtronic PM put in four days ago and I'm aiming to keep him at his word. I would agree the chances of getting hit at the exact spot are pretty tiny - my understanding is we should avoid contact sports where there are more global assaults to the upper body.  Also very glad to hear IAN MC successfully made a gradual return - keep up the great advice. --Ed
