Post-op thumping in my chest

In the 3 weeks since insertion of my PM below my left shoulder, I've been unable to sleep on my left side because of a pronounced thumping sensation in my chest whenever I try to do so. Sometimes I also feel the thumping when I extend my left arm. Has anyone else felt this sensation and perhaps know its cause and likely duration?
Also, I know contact sports are out of the question. How about bodysurfing at the beach?
Thanks.

Yes, I had something similar. It gets better and at 2 months from getting the CRT PM I can sleep on that side.

Although I can sleep on my left side now I still feel my heart "thumping". I have heard it is from the heart resting closer to the rib cage so you feel it more than when laying on your right side. I could be totally off base but that is what I heard and it made sense :)
Not sure about body surfing but it sounds like fun :)

As for my pacemaker (almost 7 years old) I like to think of it in the terms of the old Timex commercial - takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
Body surfing

First off, I would hold off on the body surfing for a couple months. I did a lot of surfing when I lived in Florida and I know how violently even a small wave can toss you around.
After your leads have time to heal into the heart wall I would say go for it. But if it were me I would stay away from the bigger shore breaks like they get in Hawaii. Those can slam dunk you into the bottom and may be too rough on a PM.
Just my 2 cents.
