I was just implanted with a Boston Scientific CRT-D about 4 weeks ago and every thing is healing very well and I can't wait to increase my exercise levels. I have always been a huge fan of high tech stuff and have always been an active person and those two traits cause me to wonder if anyone has heard whether or not anyone is working on or already produces a heart rate monitor than can read the wireless signal the new pacemakers are emitting. Seems to me you would be hard pressed to find a more accurate monitor than one that is attached to the heart. If nobody is working on this they should be.

device data for the masses
by tgrmom808 - 2012-04-16 05:04:27
There is a man in San Jose California that is on a crusade to persuade device manufacturers to give data captured by our ICD and PM devices to us patients.
Here is a link to a newspaper article about what he is doing:

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
I'm an iPhone Geek

I asked my Doc if I could have readings from my pacemaker sent to my iPhone, as I too was interested in knowing what is happening in there on a daily basis, and not just when I see him for a check-up.
He said it would be technically-possible, but would not recommend it as it could lead to me making incorrect judgements.
I think he might have just been worrying that I would be calling him every week asking what the readings mean, or nagging him for adjustments to be made on a regular basis.
In retrospect, I may be better off leaving such things to the experts.
