I had my PM implant installed Tuesday 2/28/12. Released from hospital Wed. I had a dull neck pain around my carotid artery, radiating upward from my collar bone into my jaw, and downward into my chest. This pain intensifies if I lay horizontally, or bend over from the waist. I thought that the pain was related to the surgery, and woud go away, but it has not. I have very high, hard to control blood pressure. After 4 sleepless nights I went back to the Dr who installed the PM, and he performed Echo, Sonsgram, EKG & PM check, and found nothing wrong. The pain persists, and shows no signs of going away. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of pain.

size of pm?

So when I recently got my second pacer it was slightly larger than my first pm. I had nerve pain for about a week after the surgery, described as you describe your pain, due in part to my small frame and the increased size in the pm. Once the swelling in the muscles surrounding the pocket reduced the pain went away. Although, of course, it is always best to consult with doctors whenever there is a question of health involved. Hope this helps!
