8 weeks out. Climbed House Mountain today.
Pretty short and pretty easy, except a teenager with a little
Weight issue was complaining to her parents that it was hard and she felt old.
Near Knoxville.
LeConte next. About 4,000 feet higher and a couple hours more of hiking.
They have cabins on top and feed you.
No electricity, but llamas bring up supplies twice a week, and even flowing potable water, wine, food, and a top ten view in the US as you watch the sunset with 10 mountain ranges one behind the other and clouds swirling up the cliff from the Smokies turning into rainbows and the sun becoming molten and gigantic and spreading across the peaked horizon where it is sucked down a crevasse in several seconds and you sit on the edge of the cliff in total darkness.
Talk about Zen.

Joe...man,..I can see the colours too...at 4000 feet , this really is better than flying.
Its like being on the back of a Giant Albatross...only even better...a bit like being on the back of a heavily tattood jackass on April the First
TM..freak out man !

I thought the view was great for years, but it also ranks number nine with these guys in the best views in The US.
Point is I am going to do the things I used to, unless there is a reason not to. I hope everyone can.
Look it up, weekend travel edition from a couple years ago.
And there are 8 better views you can visit if you want to.

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
