I don't have my PM yet and will find out all about what and when this Wednesday. About how long do you think I will have to wait to play golf?? My bride of 52 years and I play about 50 rounds a year and it is a big part of our summer life. We have 66 pre purchased rounds so hope we get to use them. Just found out about the PM last week and am a little nervous about the whole thing.
Thanks,
Gramps

As an avid golfer I have followed all the posts re golf and most people seem to start 6 to 8 weeks after PM implant You will start fairly tentatively. probably with a half-swing and then gradually lengthe the swing back to your normal game
You can of course practise your chipping and putting much sooner. But listen to your body, you will know when is the right time . I hope your game is better than mine !!
Cheers
Ian,
6 weeks for the wires to bed in!

Hi and welcome to the club. Do pop in every now and then and read past posts, they are very informative and there are people on here who have loads of experience and information who can answer any queries.
It takes about 6 weeks to be certain that your wires have bedded in, but as long as you go a bit gentle at it am sure that a relaxing round of golf wont do any harm.

Here I was all excited about playing golf in six weeks and the Dr. said 4 months. I'm sure he padded that a little to save face. I don't feel the PM at all and if I didn't have gout in the wrist on the same side I would be a new man,. They set me at 60 to 130 pulse and I feel better already as I was in the 40s and 30s and high 20s at night. I have had surgery twice for bypass. First one for five and the second one for six, but that was a long time ago, 1982 and 1987. He did put a little extra loop in the wire to allow for my golf swing and when he sees how fast I heal/recovery I am sure I will be able to play golf in three months. My wife and I play 30 to 40 times together so she has suggested that I drive her around and then pay for lunch. That kind of thinking must be a women thing. Thanks to all of you in this group. Makes it a lot easier for us new kids on the block.

Had open heart in June of 97 they told me I could start chipping around September. I wa on the course playing July 11th . I hope all goes the same this time.

your doctor clears you. I don't get to play 50 rounds a year, but I got my PM in March 2009 and was at the driving range in late April and golfing in May.
Best of luck
