Scheduled to see my Medtronic Rep next week for the first time (3-weeks after implant of a Revo MRI SureScan). Would like to discuss with her the "sleep mode" (rate hysteresis) feature I read about in the reference manual. Apparently when this feature is turned "on", the minimum heart rate setting can be reduced "during extended periods of patient inactivity".
My concern is whether being "inactive" like sitting and reading, watching TV, or driving a car would initiate this sleep mode. My PM is now set at 55. This rate is fine when I am lying down or sleeping; but, when I am up and around, or sitting, anything below 70 is not comfortable. When I'm on my feet and moving around my heart rate is pretty normal (PM hardly ever kicks in). I would love to have a "wake" setting of 70 and a "sleep"
setting of 55, but not if the sleep mode kicks in when I'm driving along the interstate, or when I'm reading. Anyone have experience with this?

Sleep Mode

I have had my sleep mode "on" for at least a year. I had it turned on shortly after implant because i was having a hard time sleeping. It is programmed from 10pm-5:00 am- 50. I work late 1 night a week and will be up past 10:00 pm and will also wake before 5 am on some days and seem to tolerate it well. It may be worth a try if you feel it will benefit you and if you don't like it you can always have it turned off. I'm not sure if it makes a difference why you needed a PM and how the setting will effect you. Similar to the rate response. I have mine on with a different min/max HR and it worked wonders yet I have heard of others that could not tolerate it. What works for one person may not work for others. Maybe discuss the pros and cons with your tech.
Take care,
Heidi

No sleep mode

Hi. I have the same PM as you. I don't have the sleep mode function switched on. My lower rate is 75 & I can sleep ok with that. When I first got my PM my lower rate was 60 & I found it strange sleeping for the first few nights (before my PM my HR was dropping into the 30's at night). Once I got used to it staying at 60 during sleep it was fine. Now it is set at 75 & I sleep ok. So I've never asked about having the sleep mode function turned on.
Best wishes
Janey
