Heart Rate Monitor

I was not able to find a heart rate monitor that worked after I got my PM/ICD. I asked my cardiologist about it because I was going to purchase a more expensive one thinking maybe it would work. He advised me not to spend a lot of money on one because he had not heard of any that work.
I do recall quite a while ago that there were several members on here talking about heart rate monitors and I dont remember if someone had found one that worked for them or not. You should use the search mode in the uppper right hand corner and you should come up with some previous discussions on it.

I use the Polar brand since I was in Cardiac Rehab. I know others in the class used it too....with no problems.
Why Not ??

Have you been told that you may not reach max hr ?
Its pretty common for active people to fear that they might explode or something...generally, with the normal re-training period you should be able to get back to any efforts that you did before. I had a pm at 60 and was back running in races within a few weeks..
Get you Doc or Technician to advise

I checked with my Cardio Technician, no probs with a Polar chest strap at all. If you wear a PM dogtag wear it down your back or you can get VERY skewed readouts,..how about 240 bpm ?
Jlin 36 you are only young and are unlikely to break. But DO CHECK with your people, they want success as much as you do.
Why, oh why does life seem to be about differences ?...we all want to do good , have success, lets ask some straight questions about what we want to know....and whats more ..
Lets get our shoes on a and ...RUN !!

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
