Flying with a pacemaker

My mom just flew for the first time after having a pacemaker put in in August. She feels dizzy, nauseous and was vommiting and can barely walk without assistance because of these symptoms.

Has anyone experienced this? Is it the pacemaker or related to the pacemaker?

She is 75.

While different people can have different reactions to flying, I can tell you that I fly approx. twice per month for business and have never had it affect my Pacemaker.

There are MANY other things that can affect you when flying (especially dehydration). Like always, if you have concerns - get a Doctor to check her out.

Your mom......

if she is still experiencing the symptoms you described, I'd get her to the nearest ER as soon as possible.

I can't see how flying would do that to a person with a pacemaker but anything is possible.....what method did she go through at security???? Did they use the wand on her?

She should be seen by a doctor!

Take care, and please keep us posted?

Very unlikely the pacer is the problem. There is some mean flu bugs going around right now. The more scary part is it could be a stroke so getting it checked early is important.

You know you're wired when...

You always run anti-virus software.

Sometimes a device must be tuned a few times before it is right. My cardiologist said it is like fine tuning a car.
