Polar Heart Rate Monitor and Sorin Pacemaker

I had my Sorin Esprit DR fitted December 2011
I then started going to the Gym as i am overweight and over fifty
Time to start looking after my self.
And found I love running.
I want to keep an eye on my heart rate while running.
So when i went for my 6 monthly checkup i asked if it was ok to use a Heart rate monitor while at the Gym.
Well the nice people contacted the Sorin rep for me and asked!
A week later this is the response i received.
It is perfeclty ok to use a Polar Heart rate monitor with a Sorin pacemaker.
I have a Polar RS100 and have been using it without an issues.
Luckily the Gym uses Polar equipment as well

Hope some of you find this information useful

I also have a Sorin,..a DR 2550. I also use a Polar and Cardiosport HRM...no probs.

When I wear my PM Dogtag I get very skewed readings sometimes...the trick is to dangle it down your back.

Best wishes from up here in Lincolnshire...isnt the weather nice. We are up to Fleetwood, Lancs this w/e for a double 60th ..hope the sunshine keeps up.

There are lots of runners on this Forum.

Take care

Going in for my 1st PM. Have been an avid runner for 20+yrs and while I hear running can resume post PM I know there will be challenges. Can anyone share what it took to get back to running? Can you go as far or as fast as you did? Need your insights.

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.
