Surgery/dislodged pacemaker/anesthesia

My surgery has been can postponed for another week - since my pacemaker has been in for 8 years and has to come out - all the tissues and the pouch are inflammed and stretched since the displacement ( the 3 surgeries on the same area due to incorrect pacemaker insertion in 2000) - I am now going to New York City to my cardiologist/surgeon who needs to use a laser to remove the one lead that was not screwed on and to remove the scar tissue. Has anyone has surgery to remove a lead due to inflammation - I will have a new pacemaker put on the other side. SOLUTION TO GETTING SICK FROM ANESTHESIA - GET A PRESCRIPTION FOR A TRANSDERM (USED FOR MOTION SICKNESS AND FOR SICKNESS DUE TO ANESTHESIA - I HAVE HAD 9 MAJOR SURGERIES IN THE LAST 9 YEARS -I have used the patch when flying and cruising - and read the insert and learned it is also used before surgery. I checked with my various surgeons - all said it was fine. I have never had a problem since. Kathy

I just had my Pm/ICD repaced last thursday, it was 6 years. My leads were a ok. I had a heahache for 7 days due to the anesthesia. If anyone is going thru a replacement, make sure you get medication for the heahache. Don't allow pacing that can damage your heart

Anesthesiapacemaker lead removal

I had local anesthesia when I had the pacemaker inserted. The problem now is that it has dislodged and has dropped to the right of my arm pit. The burning at the site of the incision (had 3 surgeries same site) is unbearable and now the pouch is swollen. My cardiologist now has to remove the pacemaker and the lead and put a new one in on the right side. He needs to use a laser to remove one of the leads. I have no idea how it is done- I usually ask a lot of questions but I was in so much pain the day I went that I didn't care how they took it out - I just want the pain and burning to stop. I am getting really nervous since the left side is a mess - I can feel the leads at the top of the pacemaker near my shoulder blade. Anyone have this done? The discomfort after the surgery can't be any worse than after ( I hope) Kathy
