What can I purchase to protect my pacemaker in sports? I have had it for 3 weeks tomorrow.

Hi.

I'm not into sports at all but I know for sure LOTS of our members are & some have had the same question as you.

If you want, you can use the "search" feature (upper right hand corner) and you will find oodles of information on this subject.

3 weeks post implant:) Hope you can be a little patient before getting back into whatever sport it is that you love, in order to allow your leads to settle into place, but I'm sure you already know that.

Welcome to the club and I hope some of our more active members respond to your post soon.

Take care,
Pookie

Depends on the sport

Once you give it time to settle in the pacemaker and leads are pretty durable. I would be a bit leary of body contact sports like football or boxing. Actually you are more likely to damage your body under the pacer than the pacer itself. It's one rugged little device.

I'm not into sports, but I tripped and fell once with my large camera between the pacer and the ground. The pacer, camera, and me all survived.

There is a product out on the market specifically for pacemaker protection. It's called Paceguard. It has been used for sports or other daily activities, Their website is www.paceguard.com. I know people who have used this and have had great results. Good luck.
