Second Ablation

Finally some good news coming my way - I'm going to have my second ablation done on September 26th. I was originally scheduled for September 21st but ended up getting bumped further down. They're setting aside 4-5 hours for my procedure which is a lot more than they usually set aside (its usually between 1-4 hours) but they want to make sure they leave themselves enough time to find it and get rid of it.

My anxiety and panic attacks have been very bad over the past 5 weeks. I was supposed to start school on September 8th but I haven't been able to due to the anxiety and panic attacks I've been having. Thankfully the disability services at my school are amazing so they are allowing me to take my courses online for the time being and giving me an extension on paying my tuition. If the ablation isn't successful, I am going to withdraw from school for the year to deal with my issues which is something I do not want to do.

So please keep your fingers crossed that all goes well and they're able to ablate this stupid VT!

Emma: have the exercises prescribed by your counselor not helped?

Can I help you any?

Anxiety Exercises

They have been helping, and I appreciate you talking with me and giving me those tips. But it hasn't been very long since the episode happened and I've only been practicing these anti-anxiety exercises for a few weeks, so I'm not ready to get my life 100% back on track. Mind you, since the last ICD incident, I've been living at home with my parents and I've been having things done for me. Then suddenly moving to a different city, living with 5 strangers, having to do everything on my own was an overwhelming transition given what I've been through. It was like jumping into a freezing cold lake without putting my feet in first. I didn't feel safe and I always felt vulnerable; I was having panic attacks all the time. I have the resources I need to deal with it, but with the added stress of university, its been way too much too soon. I think a break is what I need until I can see what happens with the ablation. I might need that year off to work on my mental health. School can wait.

Sorry for the misspellings

My SECOND ablation was scheduled for the 26th and bumped to the 21st! I started school the 28th of Aug. And I have only been to 4 classes because the last time I went I passed out and now I'm scared and embarrassed to go back. Thank goodness for the disability staff. My first ablation in July was 7 hours and they're setting aside 7-10 hours this time!!!! And four doctors! The set away more time because they have to be more careful. I have tachy-brady and they ablated my sinus node and put in a monitor instead of a pacemaker (something pretty much just no leads) and now My average HR is 170 awake and 145 sleeping. They plan on getting rid of my node and most likely pm this time.

Taking a step back for yourself may be a good thing, I did it for 2 years and decided tongo back to school last year. I got extremely depressed staying home. If it wasn't for the disability team I never would of been able to go back to school.

I hope everything goes well for you !

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
