I have used carbon forerunner 205/310 and just recently bOught the polar - it's extremely accurate and very comfortable. I too have jut signed up for the Glasgow half in sep and completed by first 5 k today... I am going to start a blog so will keep u posted, details will follow. Just take it easy and listen to your doc and most importantly yourself.

I've tried Polar and just about every other brand out there, none have worked accurately for me. Either they pick up the pm spike and show a rate way higher than it really is, or the pm interferes and it shows no hr.
Half marathon, there are a number of good running sites with training schedules. I have a few friends who have done Couch to 5K (if that's not the name, it's similar) and loved it.
