Arm Pain

by SMITTY - 2011-07-20 03:07:33

Hello Karebare,

Arm tingling no, I haven't had that but pain yes. In addition my PM wants to move around and turn over on its side. I would describe its movements as those of a restless person trying to sleep. What makes all this so perplexing is my first PM, which I had for about 9 years, was neither seen or felt, except those times when it felt like someone had stuck a spark plug wire to my abdomen. But that is another story.

A few weeks after I got my current PM and I started noticing discomfort in the PM implant area and a dull throbbing pain on my arm just below where the arm becomes shoulder. Not continuous pain nor hard pain (about a 5 on the 1 to 10 pain scale) but enough to get my attention. I mentioned this to my primary care physician and she explained the pain was probably from the pectoral muscle which was disturbed by the PM implant.

After a few months and I still had the pain I decided to see if I could find just how and what muscles the Dr was talking about. After looking at some picture of the muscles and PM location I think I have a better understanding of what is going on.

To maybe give you a better picture of what can happen I have posted a picture of the muscle are on which I have marked the location of my PM. Considering that the PM is on top of or underneath the pectoral muscle it is no wonder to me that some of us have discomfort after a PM implant.

If you re not familiar with the PM Club photo gallery look in there upper left corner of the home page and you will see Member Gallery. Click on that and put in my name and the picture I'm talking about will come up and it may give you a better understanding of where your pain or discomfort originates.

Good luck,

Smitty
