I just awoke with my left arm completely asleep (I was lying on my back so there is no chance there was pressure on the arm) and with pain in my upper chest. No that I'm sitting up, the numbness is gone. Has anyone had similar feelings? I'm a week out from the implant.

At one week you still have a bit of healing to do. The area is having to adapt to having a foreign object taking up space.
Is the arm cold when you wake with it numb. If so you are cutting off blood flow to it. If not you are pinching a nerve.
By the way it may just be from sleeping in an unusual position for you.
If you are more comfortable on your side try sleeping on the side opposite the pacer, and putting a pillow in front of you to support the pacer arm. This keeps the arm from dropping down in front of you and pinching the pacer pocket. I used this approach the first night after implant and slept like a rock.
best,

Are you still wearing the sling to keep the arm close to your chest? If so you might have that too tight. I just last week had my Def replaced and they put the sling on and in the night my hand went to sleep, I found that the sling was too tight and caused the problem.
