The Chemo will not hurt th pacemaker or the way it works. Different people respond to chemo differently, so while it may make you feel very bad or effect you in other ways it it is not likely to single out your heart for special effects.

But the thing to do is tell your doctor you have a pacemaker and ask what, if any, effects it may have on your heart, or pacemaker.

Good luck,

JB

will have no effect on your PM-- it will function just as it always had. You should be more confident taking chemo because whatever cardiac problem you had, the Pm is dealing with it.

Good luck!!! Positive attitude is important as you continue to heal

I had 5 chemo treatments in March & April of this year along with 25 radiation treatments for espohagueal cancer and had no problems. I have a medtronics dual lead pacermaker that works 95% of the time. They replaced my pacemaker after the radiation but that was because my battery had run its life and needed repalced anyway but they waited until after the radiation to replace it. Also had an esophagectomy surgery in June of this year any it did not affect my pacemaker. Had a lot of other problems but none with the pacemaker.

Good Luck,
Tom

Lots of luck!
