Hi all
I'm an active race car driver.
I just had a PM implant 6/16/11
Wanted to know if any one is doing auto racing with PM.
If so, do you have a problem using the Hans device.
Any input will be appreciated
Thank you
John H.

I love this new part of me, and very, very thankful that this technology exists and I know that it's all only going to get better over time.

John,
I'm not a race car driver but am a big fan. I've seen the Hans Device and it has pretty good padding next to the body which should protect the pacemaker from the hard frame of the device. But my concern is the G's that pacemaker and those leads would be exposed to in some of the crashes you fellows get involved in. In turns you can pull 4 to 5 G's and if you hit a wall at 100+ mph those G's should really pile up. My guess is that if a PM is implanted under the skin it and the leads are likely to part company. If one is implanted under the muscle it may do a little better, but not much.
Why not check with the manufacturer to see how many G's they think a PM can withstand.
Good luck,
Smitty
