Transplant

Hi,

I’ve just joined the club and wish I had seen this site when I had my pacemaker six months ago ... it would have given me such comfort and support to know that I am not the only one with "weird" symptoms after surgery. It has taken me almost the whole six months to recover and they still have to get my pacing correct.

Anyways, to cut a long story short ... I wanted to know if there is information out there or anyone (with a pacemaker insitu) who has had major surgery such as being a kidney transplant donor as I would like to be one.

Thank you.

We have quite a few members who have had major surgery but I've never heard of a pm patient donating a kidney. Your dr is really the only one who could say if it would be feasible, my guess is having one kidney is considerably more risky than the surgery itself. How very generous of you, good luck to you and your intended recipient.

Some of us have had Total Knee

Replacements. Not sure of that is in the same league with a kidney transplant tho. I had both done 6 wk's apart & altho do not need to be on any meds for that it is fairly complex, esp. the PT afterwards. This was done less than 2 yrs after my AV node ablation & PM insertion. Hope this answers your question. Am sure you will get more respones.

Hope your feeling better. My PM site ached off & on for several months as things settled down. Good news is they use the same site usually & my 2nd PM was not much of a problem at all.
