I am a pilot and tinkerer on a farm with alll kinds of power equipment
Does any one know of interferences to pacemakers from transponders or aircraft engines generating power /magnetos/

Energy & EMF Fields

Hi Ron,
I'm certainly no expert on transponders but one is used to perform the echogram on my heart and they get it within a foot, or less, of my pacemaker and it causes me no problem.
My rule of thumb of EMF and is to try to stay at least 6" from the source. Of course the exception to the 6" rule is the strong EMF you may find in power plants or around electric sub stations. In that case 25' has been a good number for me.
In the event your PM is affected by an EMF, or the energy field like in a security gate in some stores, it will feel like an irregular heart beat. It will be sudden and surprising, but when you move away from the energy source your heart and PM will return to normal function and no harm will have been done to either.
