Concerns about surgery which my doctor is suggesti

I am 41 years old, I had my first pacemaker about 8 years ago, I have recently had my second pacemaker procedure. Since my second pacemaker I seem to have an extra bad heart rate. My doctor has me on Sigmaxin, Noten, Perindopril, Crestor, Cardiprin all of which I have one a day. My heart can race so much, apparently it is often up to 180 bpm...this is why I am these tablets to try to slow it down.

The tablets do not seem to be working so, he is suggesting that if all is not well when I go back to see him that I have an operation which freezes part of my heart, which has had great results for other patients. The only issue that I have with this is that I will then be 100% reliable on the pacemaker, this does concern me. Has anyone had this operation out there, if so can you please post a message and tell me how it is working for you and or affected you?

suggesting is an ablation. There are severeal new ways to do this in past decade but I had my AV node ablated in 2000 after 2 yrs with no sucess trying to control Afib & fast heat rate. Yes, I am 100% dependent on the PM now but I couldn't be happier with my outcome. I take no meds except Coumadin (blood thinner). If you do to the "Search" button on top right of screen & put in ablation you will get a lot of info. As to myself I am on my 2nd PM & waiting for this one to wind down & be replaced. I have never been sorry I did this as it worked for me. No more SOB & fatigue!!!

You probably will get a lot of responses & I hope mine has helped.

I think he's also suggesting an ablation of the av node. There has been a lot of progress with complex ablations in the last few years and sometimes can take care of the issue without ablating the av node. I would do a bunch of research and then talk to them. Many of the more famous centers have a lot of experience in this type such as Mayo and Cleveland clinic. Try to get as much information as you can before a final decision. Good luck.
