Does anyone know if there is danger in using electric hedge trimmers to trim my bushes? I have a lot of bushes to trim and don't know if I should do it or not. I am a little more cautious now that I have already broken and had one wire replaced...I guess that seems to happen more with us younger folks :) I'm 36 and I'm on my 2nd pacemaker. Thanks!

Hedge Trimmers

I had my first pm in 2004. When I felt better and went back to gardening I found I could not use the hedge trimmer. If I did I felt "funny" down the centre of my chest. I concluded after a couple of tries that using that piece of machinery was not for me. Often we find out things that we can use by trial and error. Now I live in the lap of luxury. When the machine with the radial arm is in the area we get our hedge trimmed!!!

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.

I use one regularly with no problem. I also use an electric chain saw.
It's possible that the vibration could trigger Rate Response if it is turned ON. That would cause HR to rise. For me RR is OFF so that isn't an issue.
