Heart rate monitor suggestion?

Hi,
I've tried a couple heart rate monitors and have gotten wildly inaccurate numbers. Can anyone recommend one that works well with a PM while exercising? Are there any wrist variety ones that are accurate? I don't want ones that attaches to the finger tip -- that would be no fun to work out with! Any others appreciated.
Thank you as always for any advice.

Thanks for suggestion, I'll give that one a try and hope it syncs up with MapMyRun app as well to give me audio feedback. Have been training without one for over a year now and have had a few nausea-inducing moments where my limbs turn to bricks and I lose all energy and get a bit light in the head. About time, eh? I hear you on those whacky numbers. I'm wondering If I should have my PM tuned a wee higher as well. I think it's around 150 or 155. Just ate a Curry Up Indian burrito while reading this, trouble-free. :) Thanks again, Tattoo Man.

My husband got his pacemaker two days ago. He doesn't feel any better. Before the pacemaker he was dizzy at rest. Now with the pacemaker he is dizzy all the time. All he every heard was " you will be so happy and you will feel better right away." Is there anything I can tell him?

My chest strap HRM picked up the pulses from the PM and my rate was either 45 bpm or 150 bpm. Sol, look into the ePulse2 I have had good luck with it.
Polar, ePulse 2, Cardiosport ...

Do the wrist variety types work or am I best off with a chest strap? Also, does anyone know of a particular model of either that works and will also communicate with their iPhone tucked into the back pocket of a bike riding jersey?I I've heard they want line of site communication from the heart rate monitor's wireless transmitter to the phone so it won't work when the phone is tucked behind you. I really want something that works in conjunction with the phone because I can ride long rides and get audio feedback on numbers that fades in and out from the music, as well as get stored in a log. What's better than that??? Well, not having any of this to worry about, i suppose ...
Can't wait to go balls out on some exercise again soon.
Thanks again.

I know that Boston Sci specifically recommends Polars. Mine works pretty well--especially indoors on trainer. But when actually bike riding/racing I need to turn the chest strap around so that the sensor is on my back--seems weird but is true!
HRM and PM

I use a Polar and found the problem exists with the right placement or weak batteries in the HRM. The PM literature will explain the proper placement of HRM'S and cell phones can interfere with the readouts on the HRM and particular blue tooth devices can and will interfere with the PM. Most literature advises to place the HRM so many cm's away from the PM. I originally thought the PM was interfering with the HRM, still have reservations, but my particular problem existed between the HRM and the HRM batteries. If asking a cardiologist, be prepared for uh, they are great plumbers and electricians but very few know beans about HRM and PM interferences. I found the actually PM technicians, you know the ones that actually set your PM, are the go to people. After my PM was tweaked the second time by the technician there were no more HRM:PM issues. But, who am I but a 8 month post PMer. Ciao P.S. I am back to 20-40 bike rides, swimming and all the other stuff think you will fall over dead doing. Tschuss people, do not ever, ever, never, never give up the fight.

Hi tutu, I have had no problems at all with my basic Polar or Cardiosport Monitors. Others on this Forum have also endorsed Polar.
I use the standard chest strap type and have found that if I am wearing my stainless steel PM Dog Tag pendant I sometimes get very wacky readouts, well into the 200's which for a 61 year old is pretty amusing. I have found that if I dont wear the pendant ..so... I simply turn the thing round and dangle it down my back...voila !
Dont forget that the chest straps work best when you have a bit of sweat going or if you wet the areas that sense the pulses.
Happy exercising tutu !
