Painfull Leads

I got my pacemaker in September of 2010. I am having intermittent pains just a little bit above the location of the pacemaker. I think that's where the leads enter the veins. Does anyone else experience this? Is it normal? Should I presss my cardiologist about it?

If you find out what this is PLEASE let me know! I've been chasnig this for nearly a year. Mine is at/around the PM site (almost feels like a pulled muscle, etc. Constant and or intermittent pains). Doctors ( at hospital) put it as muscular/skeletal) I don't think so though! Tired of being kept in ER for hours (and also admitted to hospital) to determine it isn't/wasn't a heart attack. Don't know how yours feels but I get some pretty good chest pressures when tis happens!

I just had my PM implanted August 15th. The last couple days laying down I wake up with a very sharp pain in my left shoulder.. I am assuming this is coming from the lead. I am scared to lay down and rest because the pain is very intense.It does not hurt when I am sitting up. To see that your was implanted 2 years ago and you are having pain scares me. I hope docs can help you :(

it's nice to hear (in a strange way) that i'm not the only one with these issues. my defibrillator was installed 3/12. for the longest time i had what felt like joint pain in my left shoulder, (i think like mechie is describing) which seems to have gone away. for the last 2 weeks or so i have a new ache, feels like a pulled mussel near the incision. actually parallel with my shoulder and crosses the incision much like manaman describes. i would love to know what this is. due to finances i haven't been able to visit my cardiologist. the good news is since the installation i feel 100% better. which i consider a miracle considering i only have 1 open artery and the bulk of my heart mussel is dead. if you get answers please let me know. thank you all.

found this info posted by"donr" under complications. Google on "Subclavian vein." When it opens go to the top entry - should be the Wikipedia entry. Open that up & you'll see a couple rows of photos/drawings. Open the left photo in the bottom row - it's a photo of an opened RIGHT chest, but the left side is close enough that you'll see what I want you to.
