hI all,
I was "tweaked" yesterday from a HR of 60 to 80 and found this change significant. When the EP did it in the office I was fine, but coming home and especially during the night, I could feel the difference. I found the heart "too fast". Do I need to get used to the higher HR for a while. it seemed I could not relax or slow down. It was a "weird" feeling. Anyone else is affected by change of HR?
Maybe I am just oversensitive and "looking" for things. All I want to be is "normal" whatever that means.!!!!
thanks
veronika

day and night setting
by golden_snitch - 2011-01-20 03:01:57
hi veronika,
most pacers can be programmed so that they allow a lower rate at night. i know that in some medtronic pacers you can program the time from when till when the minimum rate can drop to, let's say, 60 bpm. my pacer is set 60 at night or when i rest in general (it somehow senses when I take a nap during the day), and 70 at daytime. i'm sure your pacer has something like this, too. 80 at night sounds pretty fast to me, don't think i would tolerate that well.
best wishes
inga
Why was it changed?
by biker72 - 2011-01-20 12:01:39
My first question would be why it was changed.
My resting HR was changed from 60 to 70 BPM just one time. My PM tech told me to see how it worked and to check back with him. We were trying to find a seting that work both with walking and cycling.
I found 70 BPM too fast and requested it be returned to 60.
Talk to your doctor and let him/her know how you're feeling.
higher rate

Give it a couple of months to get use to it. I love mine at a higher rate. I don't get near as tired.

Affected by implant
by tlthread - 2011-01-20 01:01:41
I was recently implanted (at 27 yrs old!) in December, and I'm just now getting to a point that I can sleep through the night. My resting HR was set 60--apparently at night that was a little higher than my body was used to. So, to answer your question, I was definitely affected. Give it some time. If after a few weeks you still feel weird, schedule an appointment to talk to your doctor. My doc offered to prescribe some temporary sleep aids, but I declined. I hoped my body would get used to it...the good news is that it did!
