I have my pacer checked by phone every month now.
They say I need a phone with a cord, however, I have lots
of cordless phones.
Can I have my reading checked with a cordless phone.? It is a land line not a cell phone.
Thanks Rose Chukusky

Cordless phones still connect to the phone line at the base station. All you need to do is provide a direct connection to the landline. I use a Tee adapter between the base station and the land line which gives a place to plug in the Medtronics Carelink. Just be sure the cordless isn't in use or picked up during the checkup.Works great. In fact I'll be doing it Monday.
By the way I have my cardiologist office "trained" to mail me a copy of the report after each phone check.
best,
frank

Rose-
The phone checks are a breeze and the major manufacturers all do it a little differently, but no problem with a land line.
I am curious however as to why the device is being checked monthly. There is not a standard indication to check it monthly unless it is a loop recorder or the battery is coming close to needing to be replaced.
Good Luck-

No, we can't use a cordless phone. I bought a cheap table top phone (10 bugs at Big Lots lol) and just plug it in for when I have my phone checks. Works like a charm.

I'm checked every three months.
I was having problems with my cordless phone until I got it far away from my laptop computer. The laptop wasn't even on but still interfered with the signal sent for the PM check.

Hey Rose, I myself have not done a phone check yet. However, the last visit I was told by the techs that a cordless phone is just fine. They told me I couldnt use a cell because of signal issues, but a cordless or a corded phone was perfectly fine. Hope this helps.

I consider my device to be so reliable, that I never think about a failure.

It depends really, on your pacemaker manufacturer and how it is uploaded. I used to have the phone checks like you and I used my cordless phone. (It was a land line) I did speak to the the person doing the check before the actual test so they would know what I was using. I didn't have any problems with the cordless.
My cell phone proved to be a problem. I also couldn't have my laptop any where near the phone check machine. (for lack of a better word) So some electronic devices might/may interfere if they are too close.
Remember to talk to the person on the other end of the line first. Take a deep breath and relax. They will explain exactly what to do. It does get easier as the test goes along. After awhile it is like walking the dog. :-)
The phone checks are the only reason we have a landline in our house. We don't use it for any other reason. My phone checks are done automatically now and I don't have to call.
I hope I have been able to help in some way,
