Has anyone had any luck with symptom improvement from acupuncture? I have low blood volume which brings along with it: hypotension, pots, and tachycardia. I've had my pm for a couople of years now and haven't had any luck with beta blockers and other meds. I have an appointment and after talking with my doctor we have decided to stop all of my medication since I have been on it so long that we don't know what is and isn't working anymore. Don't worry guys, I will be restarting them one at a time so we know what the differences are. I have been talking with a few people who recommended acupuncture and herbal therapy. Just wondering if anyone has noticed a difference with more homeopathic remedies....Thanks

Why not?

Acupuncture has few, if any, side effects and does help some people, so why not try it? Homeopathy, ditto. Herbs, on the other hand, are more tricky, after all digitalis was originally an herbal remedy! So you would need to consult a very knowledgeable and honest herbalist for any of that and if possible coordinate with your regular doctor. There are some MD doctors who practice what they call "integrative medicine" and this is, I think, the wave of the future. They actually admit that the so-called alternative treatments have something going for them or so many people wouldn't use them, paying out of pocket for the privilege.
thanks

The person I'm going to is an MD. She is up front about the benefits but also about the challenges that I'm facing.
I'm for giving it a try

Some people do very well with acupuncture others not so....but why not give it a try. I went to a homeopathic doctor for afib-- it helped a little. Just be careful. Even though herbs and supplements may be natural that doesn't make them safe. I looked up everything before I took it.
Keep us posted.

I make it a point to ask them to go easy on the puncture and heavy on the Acu!

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
Good approach

Getting off the meds and starting over is a rarely used but great idea. After about 3 or 4 meds the complexity of of interactions becomes impossible.
As for acupuncture it seems to be a mixed bag. I've known people who had very good results from it. I tried it for a case of the hives around 30 years ago. It may have helped, but was hard to tell.
The same with herbal. Some herbs have strong active ingredients and act like any other medicine. Others are more subtle.
The problem with many of these approaches isn't that they don't work. They just don't fit in with regular medicines way of measuring things.
My recommendation is 100 mg of "None-at-all" daily.
