Hello everyone! I have an appointment on Friday with an EP tech to have my PM checked, which I had implanted Sept 2010. (This may seem like a dumb question to most of you). I read many posts on this site about PM checks and PM interrogations. Are these two different types of PM checks or is it just a matter of wording? If there is a difference, could someone explain it to me? As always, thanks for your support and knowledge.
Cathy

Just be careful they don't schedule you for water boarding! LOL
To be very proper and precise, at the office checkup they first perform an interrogation where they download information from the pacer. That is followed by programming where they upload modified settings into the pacer.
Be prepared for experiencing some missing or strange heart beats during the checkup. Some of the tests cause your HR to increase for a short time. None of this is painful or even uncomfortable unless it catches you by surprise. One suggestion is to ask the tech to give you advanced warning when they start the test.
If you haven't had a checkup since your implant they will likely tweek the settings. Afterwards you should either feel the same or better. Occasionally someone reports not feeling right after the programming. If so ask them about it before leaving and don't be put off by statements like "you will get used to it".
best,
frank
