Can you tell me if there are restrictions on flying after having a pm fitted for a total heart block?

Pilot Restrictions

As a pilot the FAA (government regulator) allows flying with a waiver if it means it's your livelihood. Other than that they will not issue a medical waiver for a PM pilot. So, without a current medical certificate you can only fly an aircraft unless you have another Pilot-In-Command with you. I used this regulation 7 days after my 1st PM 18 years ago, just had to see how great it felt at higher altitude, and Electric Frank knows what I mean!!! donb

I have been flying a lot of times since getting my 1st PM. No problems at all. The only problem is getting through security. I don't go through the metal detectors so I have to find a gate that lets me go around it or the employee one if they have a seperate one.

I have a combination defibrillator/pm..dont really need the pm-it was a preventative measure but my cardiologist and specialist said under no circumstances go through ANY metal detector or let them wand you near your device ever..i know it can demagnetize the defib..not sure how it works with a pm though.Their always really cool about it though..Ive always done it easily no questions asked. It might help to have your manufactuers or Medic Alert card with you, as I was asked for it in Spain once.
You know you're wired when...
