I've posted before that I'm getting missed beats when I work out and HR goes above 110. Frank noted that it was similar to a Mobitz 1 (or Wenckebak- pardon spelling) rhythm. I noticed that it occurs sooner when I use a rowing machine (the upper body movement?).
I waited a long time to call docs as I wanted to test it for awhile. Well it hasn't improved, so I called the other day rather skeptical of what their response would be.
To my pleasant surprise, they had a reasonable sounding approach. They've scheduled a Holter monitor for me to wear for a day during which I am to have a typical vigorous workout. They said they want to see what happens during the workout. It's non-invasive so makes sense as a first step. Will keep you posted.
PS Frank- my rate response is supposed to be off, but on the last report it shows Optimization is on. Is that different from RR?

Optimization

Optimization is part of the Rate Response settings but has no effect if RR is OFF. If you have the latest report look at the Mode setting. It will likely be DDD or DDDR, but in any case Rate Response is only ON if there is an R in the Mode.
The Holter Monitor is a good idea. If it is the kind where you press a button to take a recording be sure to take one at a level before you get missed beats and and another after. This may not be an issue as the newer ones have sufficient memory to store the whole 24 hours.
I'll be interested in what they find.

AAI<-->DDD. The Holter will record the entire 24 hrs.. I'll post the results as soon as I get them. As we'll be traveling first, I won't be doing the test until next week.

Skipped beats
by misterbg - 2011-05-01 12:05:14
I had the same problem. When I played tennis, my heart would skip beats a lot. HR therefore went down instead of up. I was out of breath just after warming up. New PM just put in and I am hoping this will help.
New Questions
by Creaky - 2011-05-07 12:05:01
I wore the Holter and turned it in for analysis. I have a follow-up appointment with cardio doc and probably EP nurses this Monday. Meanwhile while out walking yesterday- after about 3 miles I felt dizzy for a few seconds. This was what my initial symptoms were like before I started having the syncopes and before the pacemaker. There was also irregular pulse. Has anyone experienced this so long after (Sept '10) receiving pacemaker?
Thanks for any replies.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
good idea

A holter is a good idea! An even better one would be put you on a treadmill while they watch the pm computer so they can see what happens while it's happening. I've done this several times to get my settings just right to sustain exercise, worked great. They could make a change and test it out immediately.
