sometimes I wonder...
so - last weekend, driving on the Isle of Wight,UK, I was following the voice of wisdom, (SatNav) with my mother and aunt in the car as we tried to find an historic castle.

So lets set the scene properly, I was at a crossroads in a small town called Newport, following a doubledecker bus with lots of pedestrians, shopping, waiting to cross roads. The voice of wisdom says - Turn left.

Picture this....
The bus brakes suddenly, I brake..the SatNav which had been happily perched on the dash slips down into the driver's foot well, catching the windscreen wiper / washer stalk on the way down. At this point I am stopped surrounded by pedestrians.

The washer sprays water everywhere, the wipers are going furiously. The SatNav cable has become lodged between the steering wheel and the washer wiper stalk. The more i try to free it, the more stuck it becomes, At this point, I am getting furious looks from pedestrians, mother and aunt are getting agitated as to whats up, the bus hasn't moved yet and the voice of wisdom appears to be shouting from the footwell - turn left NOW. The washer is still spraying and the wipers are going furiously.

Now , I am laughing uncontrollably, as I move off slowly still trying to free the cable and stop the washer spouting water and the wipers going, Finally, having lifted the nag in the footwell sufficiently to take the weight of the cable, I manage to free it and stop showering the neighbourhood.

what is worth noting is this is not untypical when I go driving with my mother and her sister..
