Lawn mower

by Parrothead57 - 2011-06-07 08:06:44

Hi Binky.
Don't I wish! ;-) No problems pushing a mower. The only precaution would be getting too close to the engine (6-10 inches) while its running. And I don't know how one would accomplish that.

I hope my wife doesn't read this, I'll have to fire the lawn service. Shhhhh.

My addition to what you have been told. If the rate response is on the vibration may make the rate response think you need a faster heart beat.

As I don't have rate response turned on my pm, I wondered about that. Wouldn't the fact you're up movong around already be the determining factor for the RR? Could the mowers vibration make it go higher? Just wondering.

Rate Response

by J.B. - 2011-06-07 10:06:12

One of the ways rate response detects the need to increase the heart rate is through an accelerometer and the more movement it detects the higher it will push the heart rate, I think. My heart rate will not increase on its own (here I'm guessing) but I have seen my heart rate at 100 when I'm walking and 140 when I was trying use an ax. Based on that I just figured the more movement, and I think vibration from a mower would count, the faster it makes my heart rate. Like I said I'm guessing so maybe somebody can tell just how rate response does work.

Rate Response - J.B.

by Cheryl B - 2011-06-07 11:06:58

I was at the doctor's last week and they turned my PM up because they said either I'm not doing enough or I'm not doing something -- and then I forgot what they said. I see another heart doctor this Thursday, so I'm going to ask again why they turned it up. But I was so offended when the doc said I wasn't doing anything, at first, because I'm walking 2 to 3 miles a day, working, taking care of a house with four floors, and a dog that won't quit driving me crazy. He's a puppy. I too was told the more movement, the more the PM rate goes up. So they adjusted it up and I feel better, not so tired. they also said if I didn't like it, they would turn it back down.
Thanks for your info, J.B.

I use an electric mower

It still vibrates quite a bit and I suspect it generates a magnetic field.

I've just completed my first year with "Pac-man" and have had no problem with my mower. This is unfortunate. I'd have a good excuse to get out of a job I dislike :-)

my rate response is on and was upped last visit. So from what I'm gathering here I can not use this Pm as an excuse not to mow the lawn. As I dislike ride-ons guess this is my own fault. Thanks for all the replies. This is an awsome site with so much good info.
