Is this normal?

Not sure how to describe this, but the other day I had my pacemaker settings adjusted for the first time. I am going to try to explain to the best that I understand things. My pm was placed for bradycardia thought to be due to sick sinus syndrome as well as ncs related problems. Yesterday he didn’t like something about top chamber working at 90% but also ventricular pacing at 50%. Apparently the ventricular he thought could be what is causing me to still have a lot of syncope and can lead to bp drops of as much as 20 points. (I could be
understanding this all wrong)

From what I understand he "turned off" the ventricular pacing and I am only pacing out of the top node. Soon as we left I started to feel fluttery feeling in my throat that I would feel on occasion when pm was first placed. I was hoping it would just take some getting used to be it hasn’t gone away and at times it feel like it is racing. I am supposed to call on Thursday and tell him how I am feeling either way. Anyone else ever feel "different" after having settings adjusted? Is this normal? Could it just be in my head because I know things are different? Thanks for any input.

You need to get checked

Hi Penny,
If the titel doesn't say everything than I don't know what does. You need to get this checked before Thursday. There is potential to feel somehting when the settings are changed, but not usually what you are describing. I'm a nurse and although I don't have a pacemaker, I do know that the saymptoms you are describing could be something serious. You need to get this checked out right away.

Weird decision

I can't understand how turning ventricular pacing off would prevent syncope. In fact it is exactly the opposite.

Either you misunderstood what he said or he is incompetent. I agree that something serious is going on if you are experiencing syncope with large drops in BP.

Don't attempt to drive and get attention ASAP.

Seems Odd

Penny, Something is clearly not right - especially since you started having the feelings just after leaving his office. I agree with the others - you need to get checked out ASAP!

A different note - I see you live in Millsboro, DE. I grew up in Dover and spent fair part of my adult life in Newark. Really miss the beach and the seasons!
