rate response

I'm having a love / hate relationship with my rate response. I can't function without it, but yet I hate living with it. UGH....

just wondering if you have access to your print outs?

if you do...somewhere near the Rate Response information (at least on mine) is the word "Optimization". I had mine turned OFF last time I was in for a check and it has made the world of difference.

It was either that or my cutting out 88% of my caffeine intake and adding 250mgs of Magnesium to my diet.

Take care,
Pookie

It took a while for me to adjust to my rate response. I would not want mine turned off now. Once I start in motion I feel like a wind-up toy, and can keep going strong all day. I just hope I am not wearing my heart out quicker by this. I wonder about this alot.

Since my complete sinus node ablation nearly a year ago, I have been 100% paced. Like you, I have developed a love/hate relationship with the rate response feature of my pacer.

It's great when I want to take a brisk walk or jog, but it doesn't seem to speed up enough for a run (not that I have been able to do any of those things for the last few months). It really drives me nuts at night though. Every time I turn over my heart speeds up...it seems to take ages for it to slow back down and by then, I'm wide awake.

My doctors have my rate response set on the most sensative setting because my heart rate barely budges without it, and when it does, I go into a terrible junctional rhythm. Oh well, I'll take rate response glitches over tachycardia any day!!!

I don't feel so alone in my rate response feelings. I think ya'll understand what I mean by a love / hate relationship. My rate response is on med/high and the other numbers are on 8. In other words, like you, Amanda, it's set on a very high sensitive rating. My heart barely budges without it, but without I can't do anything. What a roller-coaster.
I want some changes made, but in no way do I want to start the "tinker with your ticker" game. I'll settle for my half hearted misery and see how it goes.

Thanks ya'll,
Angelie

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
