Post Op Question

I had a Medtronic defib - pacemaker - CRT device implated 2 days ago. My question is when I lye on my left side I feel a twitch - kinda like a hiccup - not sure if I would call it a shock. It doesn't hurt but its just odd that it happens on my left side only....as soon as I turn to my back or right side it goes away...

Any advice?

Is the implant on the left?

I also could not sleep on my left side. I'm into my 4th month and I can now sleep on my left. I had very similar feelings at first. It look a while for it to stop.

I would not lie on the left side until you get healed up. You will just keep that site irritated and it will take longer to heal.
It took a long time before I was comfortable lying on the left side and is still not the most comfortable way to sleep. I have a Defib which is bigger than a pacer like you do.

Hiccup

I think you have the same thing I have/had. It was called a hiccup and mine started before I left the hospital after the implant of the PM/defib. The tech came in and made an adjustment. The hiccups started back, but only when I was laying on my left side. I called the EP's nurse who set up an appointment with the technician who did an adjustment and the hiccups stopped. They are VERY annoying. They told me that it's the lead touching a nerve and they can adjust the setting to stop this from happening. The tech had me lay on my left side and he did the adjustment, asking me to tell him when the hiccuping stopped. Call and get the adjustment. It's hard enough to find a comfortable position to sleep in without these hiccups. BTW, I went for the second adjustment because the hiccups would happen when I ate a big meal. Go figure.
