It seems like my pacemaker settings get messed up everytime I go in for a foolow up the the pacemeker technician. Does anyone else have this problem? I went for a routine check about 2 weeks ago and now my heart rate seems fast and I feel like I am having a constant panoc attack. Is there a standard setting for pacemakers? I am pacer dependent and am having this current pacemaker replced next week. I am just sick of always feeling like crap and having to go to the technician twice everytime to get the settings correct. Any advice?

Reason for settings

Are they replacing it because the battery life is coming to an end? If so they may have shifted you to settings that conserve battery life until the replacement. That usually involves setting the HR to a fixed value which is a bit faster than your slow resting rate.
Since the replacement is in just a week I suggest waiting to see how it works out. Of course if you have any hint of erratic heart beats or light headedness give them a call right away. The battery could be giving out.

I have an ICD which is both a pacer/defib. I have no problems with mine and it has saved my life.

hi there, i dont think a pm can slow down your heart rate, but i may be wrong, so perhaps the settings did get changed that made it go faster. I'm not the greatest source of info but am sure some of the other more knowledgeable members will comment to you.
It could be to do with your rate response, find out if it was off and they turned it on, that can make your heart rate go up more.
Hope you get it sorted
