Has anyone experienced numbness around shounder, top of arm, armpit area after pacemaker implant. Spoke to my doctor yesterday and he said it is probably residual from local anesthesia used. My surgery was last Thursday. How long until this feels normal?

I had mine put in wednesday 2/10/10 and i have had some numbness and quite a bit of stinging and burning too. Have any of you experienced a shocking type feeling to the lower part of your heart? I woke up at 1 am and i felt the lower part of my heart beat heavy and felt like it was getting shocked then beat.

Hi :) My PM implant was 10/19/09
Yes my shoulder.top of arm and armpit...etc etc
is still numb...sometimes I get tingling and a burning sensation... it is difficult for me to use my arm becuz it still is sore... my Dr said.... it was probably nerve damaged..and may take siz months to a year for it to come back....it is getting somewhat better...but for the most part it is still numb.... my incision is fine and there is no infection...just numb.....sounds like it may take awhile for me...remember everyone is different...
Take care:)

I have had my pacemaker for two weeks today, and I have a fairly sizeable numb spot on the front of my shoulder and upper arm. The skin is also peeling because of how swollen I was, and I am still what my friends have dubbed "tie dyed" with bruises on that arm, shoulder and most of the left side of my chest.
My Dr. Didn't use staples, I have dissolveable stitches, and my incision is healing very slowly. They have put me back on antibiotics because it kept bleeding and they were worried about infection.
I can't wait till I can get my dog from the kennel, but the doctor says I need to wait until the incision is in better shape :(

Mine was put in this past Monday, Feb 8th.
I have lots of pain in my arm muscle, numbness in the back and front of shoulder and some numbness in my hand??? I go Wed to have staples removed and plan to ask a few questions then.
Also, if I get cold...shivering HURTS my chest muscles!
The only thing that is still really hurting and bothering me is when the ICD moves when I turn over at night!!! They say this will get better as the pocket grows around it.
It is getting a little better each day! :)
