Insanity

I have had my pacemaker for 2 1/2 years, and I am looking into doing INSANITY. I am 31 years old, and run regularly, but have not done much as far as upper body workouts due to things I have read about possible dangers involved with push ups and presses. I have seen the commercials, and it looks pretty intense. I am wondering if anyone is doing the program, and if it requires any exercises that would be too dangerous with a pacemaker.

Any info or personal experiences with the program wold be greatly appreciated...

Thank You,
Steve

Not sure about insanity, but I have been doing crossfit for a year now. I do push ups and presses and pull ups- anything I want. I originally didn't do anything hanging from the bar (pull ups), but my dr said it was fine so I do everything now. Check with your dr before doing anything intense and make sure your trainers know.

Ok, I was curious so I looked it up. If your dr clears you and if you are experienced at exercise, go for it. If you are new to working out, I'd suggest a gym where you're supervised to make sure you're doing things correctly and where a trainer can modify as needed.

Just on the humorous side. I started to read your post, got down to "I am looking into doing INSANITY," and I thought, "Wow, someone who feels like I do - insane." LOL.
I thought maybe at first you were going to use that as your defense to get put on disability.
Okay. Just thought I'd add some humor to your day.

PM Upper Body Workout

Hi Steve, Read your posting & I thought I'd my 2 cents worth. I became a member on this site a few years ago because of PM erosion & removal of my 3rd PM replacement. As I'm a scar tissue patient with every surgery even as a kid I also developed lots of scar tissue with each PM.

Shortly after my 3rd PM implant I needed a heart stent implant & followed up with Cardiac Rehab. Naturally the #1 exercise was the upper body ergometer (UBE). After doing a year in our hospital rehab program on all the equipment I really did well. After some time my PM site got real itchy with some slight pain. Not too long later erosion started & my PM had to be removed. As I had so much scar tissue build up in my pouch I had to have my 4th PM implant in my right chest.

As I was in my 2nd year of cardiac rehab I was no longer allowed to do the (UBE) exerciser. I know my case was an isolated case but with the scar tissue issue the (UBE) was not the best. My present PM is now under the muscle & doing great and I need to get back on my own treadmill, airbike, & pulleys. Best advice (disclaimer) have a good heart to heart talk with your cardiac Dr.

You know you're wired when...

You have a $50,000 chest.
