If you find out let me know. The dr swears you can do anything, but when I try I always end up back in his office trying to get "re-programmed". Good luck to you!

Yep

Suggest you check with your Dr first - but I go to gym 3 times a week and lift weight, treadmill, resistance training. My cardiologist had placed no restrictions .. took me awhile to be able to do it but now that I can it is awesome. Cheers :-)

No restrictions for me..

I still perform all my usual weight lifting "moves", from shoulder presses, bench press, flys, pull ups, etc, etc 5 days a week.

You should still ask your doctor, but I have no exercise restrictions.

wait for weights

I was told to wait 4 weeks post op before I lifted anything heavy (>10 lbs). Since then have not had an issue but depending upon where and how your pacemaker is implanted it could cause issue with some soreness. Mine hurt like hell of a week after I took a basketball right on it even though mine is placed in a muscle pocket so it is somewhat shielded. All I know for that experience is I wouldn't want to bounce a bench press bar off of it.

He Chris, I will train today........I don't even think of the PACER. I actually feel lucky knowing that I already had my block and the average guy on the street is subject to a block at any time! BIONIC!!

Why did my cardio add restrictions?

by axg9504 - 2009-12-16 09:12:59

Before my PM went in 2 years ago I was told that I would be able to do 'pretty much anything I wanted' after the usual 1 month wait. At my 1 yr exam the cardio chips in with 'no flys', 'no bench press' 'no tennis'. I had been told 'no lat pulldowns' earlier. Now I'm no weight lifter and just did this in moderation before my PM, although whatever weight I used was pretty close to my limit (I only did 2 sets at the most) so I am straining. The doc is concerned with friction of leads against something (don't know if it's muscles, bone or what). Did you guys have your leads routed in some special manner to avoid this risk altogether? Why is it some of you have no restrictions at all?

You know you're wired when...

You have a shocking personality.
