I got my PM about a year and half ago and the first thing I asked my doc was could I still go on rides? He told me yes. Last year I had a wedding in Chicago and wanted to go to a big amusement park there. I asked him specifically about the big roller coasters with the magnetic brakes and he told me that with my condition (2nd degree Motbitz type 2) I could. I went on all of them and did not have any issues whatsoever. The only thing I can recommend is waiting at least 6 months. I went to a small amusement park just barely 6 months after my implant and all of the bumping and jarring was very uncomfortable and while not painful, my PM site bothered me for several days. Good luck to you.

If you use rate response, the pm will sense movement on bumpy rides and raise your rate. It feels odd but is perfectly safe. Some doctors are more conservative than others about rides and warnings in general. The only thing I avoid is the newer coasters with magnetic brakes, anything else goes.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
