Medtronic settings & burning chest discomfort

Hello all: I have spoken privately with Electric Frank and Ian concerning Medtronic settings and burning chest discomfort.
I have been paced 100% for the past 3 years and lead a very active life, running 30 minutes 4 or 5 times a week on the treadmill. But unable to raise my pulse to more than 80 to 100 bpm.
After some convincing, my doc finally upped my rate response to the most sensitive settings and my max HR to 165 bpm. I can now raise my pulse into the 130s. But my problem continued: shortness of breath with minimal walking on stairs and inclines.
Since the latest change in settings a new problem arose: burning chest discomfort while high speed running on the treadmill. When I reduce the speed the burning goes away.
I just had an angiogram which showed no blockages and no problems.
I even called Medtronic and the rep told me that my current settings may be the best that I can expect.
Has anyone experienced these issues? Has anyone found a solution?
I hate to think that this is the best that can be done.

Nuclear stress test

Hello all: In response to my above mentioned complaint, my cardiologist sent me for a nuclear stress test which showed problems with blood flow during exercise.
As a result, I just began the following medications: 5 mg of Norvasc and 2.5 mg of Lisinopril.
Hopefully this will correct the problem. Only time will tell, as the doc said these meds will take a week or two to take effect.
Note: I have low cholestrol and normal blood pressure.
Has anyone experienced this diagnosis?

Hi Syd,
Check out pacemaker syndrome on the web. I've not had all the symptoms you have but do have the problem with sob on stairs and when exercising. My cardiologist just did a treadmill test and yes, my HR wouldn't go up as it's supposed to. You might ask for a treadmill test to see if it's possibly the problem you are having.
