Well I spent an afternoon visiting with a Medtronic rep trying to get my rate response right. Him and I have become quite close as he has made many changes for me and my EP doc, plus he has interrogated my PM in ER. Anyways, I was educated on the different settings that my pacemaker (Kappa 400) has. He said I was lucky that my pacemaker is one of the few that still has two means of determining the appropriate rate... minute volume (MV) or activity. Currently mine is just activity. However I have discovered that my rate response is too sensitive as it is sensing activity when I am driving my car (hahaha my last post). There are activity levels (mine is 1-5). I was set at a 3 which is standard. I was decreased to 2. I was just curious of the people that are pacemaker savy out there know what their activity/sensitivity level is set at. I still had issues this morning with sensing activity, but I want to give it a good try before I call complaining. Anyone know what their sensitivity level is set at?

I am no expert, but I believe that without the defibrillator that I have, I would be dead.
RR setting

The Medtronic reps are great. They like to have happy pacers.
Your settings sound like I had right after my original implant. Almost any movement would send my HR soaring. In my case we solved it by turning off the RR so I never learned what setting would have been best.
I just looked at the manual for the Kappa 700 series. It mentions a Rate Profile Optimization function. It sounds like this is an automatic function that learns your profile. If so it may take a few days to see where yours is going to settle out.
