Hi everyone,
Have been really knocked with severe sciatica. I've been using a small tens on my lower back with no problem. Does anyone know about Enar treatment? Similar but supposedly better than Tens. Desperate to avoid back surgery.

ENAR

I know very little about it but have heard a lot of positive things about it. However... I have always been told that TENS is a no no with pacemakers. I desperately hate it, as I am currently doing physical therapy after knee surgery and my cardiologist wont let them use the TENS on my knee even. I LOVEEEEEE TENS.. well used to before I had a pacemaker! Anyways, I know research on the ENAR was very positive.

Hi Sam,
I use a very small tens on my lower back. I was asked where I needed to use it and was told the PM was not a problem.
Have used it ever since with absolutely no problems at all.
Cant help but wonder if the Enar would be the same.
I think that "they" various practioners have to cover themselves against any probs with pm,s
Of course I wouldn't use it anywhere near the pacemaker.Lizzie
TENS

Lizzie: A short time after I had my PM implanted, I used a TENS unit, unknowingly, on my lower back. Worked wonders. MOF, my PT guy ( nicknamed him Saddam) used another electronic device on same area. It also worked wonders. NEVER had a bit of interference w/ PM from either.
Then I realized that the electrical stuff was probably a no-no, talked to my Cardio & he confirmed it.
The problem is not really the system, since the electrical current travels directly from one conductor patch to another, but the unfortunately likely chance that something just might go wrong & involve your PM. The probability is pretty low, but does not approach that of being struck by a meteorite or lightning. So... no one wants you to take that chance.
Now - after saying that, I've inadvertently taken 110 volts right hand to left hand (Or was it the other way around?) w/o any ill effect on PM. I knew & recorded the exact time it happened & next time I had PM downloaded, there was nothing anywhere near the time of the event. I still wouldn't do it on a recurring basis!

Sounds dumb, but I forgot to mention gave a pm. Only problem with interference I've had was with a electric car polisher. Probably too close to pm

In the materials provided when I got my new PM, I was advised not to use a tens unit. I do not know anything about enar treatment, sorry. If you discover some good information, please share.
