Met an old guy at hosp was in for pm change, he'd had it done before and was much more chilled than I am for a dental appt. He went in, local anaesthetic, was in about half an hour, came out had dinner, had a laugh and went home.

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
Don't think they change the battery

Last I heard they don't change the batteries in modern pacemakers but instead you get a new unit and your old one goes back to the manufacturer.

and really... can't they be a little more PC... like, expired batteries... or batteries that no longer function... I mean, come on do they have to use the d word?
