NO CT scan for me! That is my good news for the day. That and I have now lost 5 pounds!
As I understand it when the nurse asked the Dr. about my questions he asked to see my record. He looked it over and said "Susan is right she should not have a CT scan nor does she need one"! My CT has been cancelled!
AWESOME! hee hee... I can't believe how HAPPY I am. He went on to say that I would need a Stress Test, a Heart Echo and something else. Non-invasive procedures. hee hee. I really am very happy. He can do as he medically wishes with me as long as he isn't injecting iodine into my veins!
I would also like to add: That I received the BEST ADVICE EVER here at this site and that was to ASK WHY DO I NEED THIS TEST! The very best question anyone can ask.
Sometimes there is a task list associated with each patient, a task list that calls for certain procedures and test to be done. Well, sometimes a patient has a medical reason not to follow the office rules. Turns out this time that was me. Cool.
Take care all, you are all awesome.

Extra Pounds???
by donb - 2010-06-03 07:06:35
Hi, how about the few of us who could use those extra pounds?? Last year with all the surgeries (4) and hospital bug it took me all year to get 5 pounds back.
Well, this year after my unscheduled ride in the shower breaking 2 vertibrae in my upper back in February I'm shy at least 5-10 lbs. Any volunteers?? Too bad we can't share because it takes me forever to gain weight. Always reminds of the old child story of Jack Spratt could eat no fat, and his wife could eat no lean. That's how it's in this household. Could say it's in my genes (jeans) as I wear them all the time. Enough of the CORN!! Seriously, the only thing that works for me is a full bag of popcorn with a bottle of Michelob light every night before bedtime. So maybe for some it would work to cut out at least the corn.

I've got some! I've got some!!!! You can have as many as you want, lol. I have been on both sides of the coin. Through my teens and 20's I was underweight to the point I was under drs orders to have milkshakes with peanut butter at bedtime. Then I turned 30 and had kids and was normal weight. Then I turned 40 and broke my foot and had some tachy issues that kept me from working out enough and now I'm on Weight Watchers :o)
Susie, yay YOU!!!!!!! Good for you for standing up for yourself and questioning them. That task list sounds like something made for the bottom line, not for the patients needs.
BIG congrats on the 5 lbs!!!!
Well done!

High 5 to losing 5 pounds. That's awesome.
And I'm glad you posted WHY DO I NEED THIS TEST.
Here in Nova Scotia, Canada, we have booklets all over our hospitals informing would be patients exactly what to ask....even how to politely tell medical staff to wash their hands before ever touching you.
Have a great weekend,
Pookie
